The history of old settlements and the clans of the area, together with its role in the last Jacobite rising of 1745-46, will fascinate those interested in researching genealogy and visitors with a feeling for the past. Immireoin ("a strip of arable land named after Ewan") was one of the farms in Glenbuckie documented in Captain James Stewart's letters ca. 1815-1820, the others being Leannach (one of the best grazings in Balquhidder), Dailanlaggan ("Dale of the little hollow") and Wester Invernenty (probably Inbhir nan tigh = "river confluence by the house") Historically the Stewarts were the principle family in the area. Those of you with outdoor interests may prefer to go fishing in the burns, walking or climbing on the hills and to enjoy the wildlife and the scenery in Scotland's first National Park. Immeroin offer visitors a very special experience. A very warm welcome awaits you. Telephone - 01877 384 254 Fax: 01877 384 322 Mrs E. Olwen Hendry Immeroin, Balquhidder, Perthshire FK19 8PF |
