Enjoy browsing these lovely old postcards of Loch Earn from Lochearnhead to St Fillans in the early 1900's onwards. LETi was gifted a copy of them passed on by Lawrie and Pam Hopkins, past Chair and Treasurer of LETi. They were given permission to share them with us by the current owner of the postcard collection. So a big thanks to Robert Sanders of Nottingham. Thanks for sharing a piece of our history for future generations to enjoy.
Wonderful to see the Drummond Hotel (now Loch Earn Brewery Hotel) and the original Lochearnhead Hotel (now a housing development known as Cameron Court) How many people remember the Auchraw Hotel?. Notice the old half penny and penny stamps. How lovely to read about one tourist mentioning the grave of the seven MacDonalds, still marked today, visible on the south side of Loch Earn near Ardvorlich house. Spot the old railway station in Lochearnhead that has been used as the Hertfordshire Scout Headquarters since the late 1960's. Notice the water skiing and boating activities at both ends of Loch Earn.
Browse each postcard and share this page with anyone who has a link or interest in the history and heritage of Loch Earn.
