Drummond Estates Boat Hire & Game Fishing on Loch Earn, Perthshire - bait fishing, spinning & fly.

Fifteen-foot loch-style boats equipped with 4HP outboard engines to hire for fishing or pleasure on Loch Earn. Lifejackets supplied for a safe day on the water. Maximum carrying capacity of four adults per boat, restricted to three when fishing. Well behaved dogs welcome.

Our booking cabin stocks a range of fishing tackle as well as rods for hire, bait and fishing permits. There is also a slipway available to people who have their own boats, but not for personal watercraft (i.e. jet skis, jet bikes, etc). Charges apply.

Boat moorings are available at St Fillans at the eastern end of Loch Earn.

Loch Earn is stocked with about 10,000 trout each year and the largest rainbow trout caught in 2006 weighed in at 10lbs 8oz.. Loch Earn offers brown trout, some rainbow trout, arctic char, grayling and occasionally salmon. Traditional Scottish flies do well; Gosling, Black Peacock Spider, Bibio, Black Pennell, Clan Chief, Hares Ear, Claret Bumble, Kate McLaren, and Dunkeld are recommended.

The statutory season for brown trout is from 15th March to 6th October. For brown trout, late Spring-early Summer and September are generally the best times to fish.
