One of the most iconic hotels in the area, parts of the building date back to the early 1800s and whilst originally linked to the local lime kilns, it was converted into a hotel in the 1900s. Accommodation in the hotel comprises of 12 rooms, the majority of which offer loch-side views as well as a two-bedroom holiday apartment – The Vivaldi. There are a couple of four-posters and we affectionately refer to some of our rooms as ‘Narnia’ bedrooms where you enter the bathroom through the wardrobe!
The six hillside log cabins positioned behind the hotel also offer stunning views of Loch Earn, whatever the weather. With two bedrooms, these are ideal for families and located in the woods, are popular with pet owners. All rooms offer the home comforts you would expect including shortbread and ‘Bonio’ biscuits as required!
St Fillans itself is in the centre of outdoor sports in Scotland, with Comrie Croft mountain bike centre, Loch Earn watersports, fishing, St Fillans Golf Club and numerous Bens, Corbetts and Munroes close by to name but a few of the options to consider. The golf club loans clubs and the hotel loans bikes to take onto the National Cycle Network (Route 7).
Find time to just be here, spend your days here whatever the weather, enjoying the view, the food, the wine and most importantly simply the time to be who you really are. Recharge the batteries and find your spirit of wellbeing. Enjoy the simple things in life like watching the evening sky dramatically change its mood. Perhaps take a gentle stroll across to the shore line and feed the ducks.
Public facilities include the Meall Reamhar Restaurant, a well established destination restaurant, it has coveted two Rosettes for over 20 years. A destination restaurant where you can truly relax and enjoy quality food on offer. The preferred choice for special occasions, the Meall Reamhar is bringing to St Fillans a number of feature foodie nights including seasonal wine and food pairing evenings with Great Grog (Scottish Independent Wine Merchant of the year). Open throughout the summer, and weekends in the winter (check the website for details) the fireside lounge is a perfect choice for afternoon tea and time to read the paper – uninterrupted!
There is also the wee bar, a snug populated by guests and locals alike catching up on the days activities and news. This is the heart of the hotel and where dog owners congregate beside the fire whilst taking in the activities on the loch including water skiing, jet skiing and fishing.
For those who want to get away from it all, perhaps with cocoa or a brandy and a book, half way up the stairs is the library. Reminiscent of something out of Harry Potter, you can curl up with only a bear watching you! The sitting room is an option for larger groups that want a little privacy, for birthday drinks or the place to meet – it should never be under estimated!
Finally there is The Tarken Bar and Bistro. The place to pop into just for a quick pint, soup and sandwich or the place to linger a little longer and have classic pub fayre but still of the best quality on offer from our local partners. And of particular note, we welcome dogs here.
Under new ownership from July 2017, the hotel is facing a new era, one of keeping the best of the past whilst bringing a new flavour and tone to what is already recognised as a place of outstanding service. One thing is for sure, The Four Seasons will continue to be a flagship property in the area and most definitely will remain pet friendly.
