The Villagers is a community newspaper, published in eleven monthly issues, starting in February each year. Founded in 1993 to serve the three villages of Balquhidder, Lochearnhead and Strathyre, a fourth village, St Fillans, was added in 1999.
The newspaper functions as a collection point for lists of events, a forum for discussions and controversies, a photographic record of social pastimes, a trade directory of local goods and services, a vehicle for the talents of artists, poets and writers, a place to celebrate births and marriages and a place to honour and acknowledge our dead. For the many visitors who come here for short or long stays the newspaper gives a flavour of the community of which they become a small part and many subscribe to it and receive copy by post all over the world.
On this website you will find a subscription form which you may download. Every month we sell The Villagers through a variety of outlets. The village shops, post offices, several hotels and all the caravan sites have Honesty Boxes displaying copies. We only ask £1 for a full colour copy – pop the money in the box and help yourself.
